An Insight Into The History Of Blogging

Blogs have over the years developed and are now used as a standard and prominent feature in most websites. The growth has brought about many types of blogs such as video blogging or photo blogging and even using blogs as a way of broadcasting news.

It's even amazing that blogging has become sufficient enough for a business to operate effectively online but it wasn't the same back in the beginning or even 3-5 years ago. Blogs didn't play as big a role as they do in today's society.

The History

The history that started blogging goes way back to where blogs were really only more like discussion forums rather than what they are now. The first blogs weren't even HTTP coded and it was only in 1994 that the modern blog was beginning to take off.

An influence on the growth of bogs at this time would have been diary type bloggers who were also most probably the largest influence on the growth of interactive websites.

This recognition of diary bloggers was when modern day blogging engineering began to take off. By the late 1990’s blogs were starting to become quite popular. The growth expanded to even more popularity throughout the end of the 90’s and into the noughties where the developments of modern day blogging platforms were also on the rise.

By 2003 the blogging industry was booming and became a prominent feature in the online community. Companies were also starting to incorporate blogs into their business and blogging platforms were getting better. Around the same time WordPress was launched under its current name.

From 2005 forward blogging was much like it is today, always evolving and getting more and more popular. The creation of blogging truly is a short history but a history in the creation of an extremely useful cyberspace asset.

What is most amazing about this short history is that blogging is still only taking off and at a faster rate than ever before. This timeline I created gives an insight to just how far it has grown since it began.

Timeline

Early 1980’s – There were communities that weren’t quite like the modern day blog but have been recognised now as a birth to modern blogging.

Early 1990’s – Blogs were mostly much like online diaries but were beginning to become mainstream by 1994.

Late 1990’s – Blogs were evolving and becoming more recognised as sources for news worthy content.

Early Noughtie’s – Blogs were still fast increasing in popularity. WordPress was also born, 2003.

Mid Noughtie’s – Blogs became very popular among the media and with large companies. The birth of the modern day blog scene was upon us.

To Present Date – Blogging has certainly evolved and is still growing faster than ever.
